The Alex Clinton Tanko Foundation began after the loss of Alex Clinton Tanko to Renal Medullary Carcinoma, a rare and highly aggressive kidney cancer strongly associated with the sickle cell gene. His passing exposed a painful reality. There is limited awareness of RMC, little accessible information for families, and almost no structured community support. That moment became the foundation's starting point and its driving force. ACT was created so that no one else would have to face illness alone.

Brief story block

ACT exists because illness should not isolate people. Too many families are left to navigate complex diagnoses without guidance, reliable information, or support. What began with the loss of one life has grown into a mission to build accessible care, raise awareness, and create community-led solutions for individuals affected by cancer, sickle cell, and related health challenges.
Our story is about turning grief into service and ensuring that compassion is always followed by action.

What ACT Does

At ACT Foundation, we deliver life-changing support through Cancer and Sickle Cell advocacy, education, and care programs

Sickle Cell Awareness

Sickle Cell Awareness

We share clear, practical information about sickle cell, what it is, how it affects daily life, and how people can live better with the right knowledge and support. Through education, conversations, and community outreach, we help individuals and families understand sickle cell beyond the myths, so they can make informed decisions and feel less alone.

Cancer Awareness

Cancer Awareness

ACT provides simple, reliable information about cancer, early signs, prevention, and navigating care. We focus on clarity over complexity, helping people recognise when to seek help and understand their options. By making information accessible, we reduce fear and empower people to take action sooner.

Community Programmes

Community Programmes

We build programmes that meet people where they are. From local outreach to support groups and health education sessions, our community initiatives create safe spaces for learning, connection, and steady support. These programmes strengthen communities by offering practical help when systems fall short.
